Janielle is a music educator and Head of Piano faculty at the Afghanistan National Institute of Music. In 2017, she completed her Master of Teaching (Music Education) at Monash University and in 2014, graduated from the Melbourne Conservatorium with a Bachelor of Music (Piano). Before pursuing her degree, Janielle studied at the prestigious Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School and performed in numerous solo and chamber music concerts. Janielle is a versatile musician and teacher who tailors her classes to her students’ unique potential and interests. Her life mission is to create music-making and learning opportunities in tough places around the world. She sees music education as a force for social impact and peace-making. The past 7 years, she has worked with children, youth and adult students from diverse cultural backgrounds. In 2013 she worked with The Song Room and pioneered their first piano music project where she taught children from Sudanese refugee families. Her music teaching and workshop experiences abroad include Israel, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, India, and the United Arab Emirates. Janielle is focused on striving for excellence as well as inspiring creative expression in her students in every aspect of music practice, performance and teaching.
On a mission to Masaka, Uganda, I spent some time sharing music and a message of hope with women in a village town.
