ABOUt ME
Janielle is an experienced music educator, piano teacher, and accompanist from Melbourne, Australia. Since 2018, she has embarked on missional international teaching work, serving as the Head of Piano Faculty at the Afghanistan National Institute of Music (Afghanistan, 2018-21) and as a Performing Arts teacher at the Kigali International Community School (Rwanda, 2021-23). Some of her piano students have been successfully accepted into prestigious universities such as the New England Conservatory, Longy School of Music of Bard College, and the University of Michigan.
A graduate of the Bachelor of Music in Piano and Chamber Performance (2014) at the Melbourne Conservatorium, Janielle also holds a Master of Teaching (Secondary Music) from Monash University (2017). Over the years, she has studied Classical Piano with music pedagogues such as Professor Ian Holtham, Len Vorster, Sandra Birze and Janine Sowden.

In 2012, Janielle was awarded the Pearis Rodger Piano Scholarship by the Melbourne Conservatorium for excellence in piano performance. She has also won the Arts Innovation Award by the Hildegard Behrens Foundation for a music education project in Rwanda when she undertook a post-graduate music entrepreneurship course with the Global Leaders Institute (USA).

In her schooling years, Janielle was awarded her AMEB Piano Diploma of Associate in Music (A. Mus. A) at the age of 17. While studying at the prestigious Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School (VCASS), she performed in numerous solo and chamber music concerts. Her piano trio has been tutored by well-known Australian soloists and chamber musicians such as Josephine Vains, Glenn Riddle, and Rachel Atkinson. Aside from her classical studies, Janielle also enjoys playing improvisatory piano and songwriting. She is a versatile musician and teacher who tailors her classes to her students’ unique potential and interests.

At present, Janielle serves as a chaplain at Christway College and teaches both classroom music with ANZUK, while providing and instrumental lessons in Melbourne and piano accompanist services. She is passionate about working with children, youth and adult students from diverse backgrounds and also has experience teaching children with special needs. In 2013 she worked with The Song Room NGO and pioneered their first piano music club where she taught underprivileged children from the South Sudanese refugee community. Her music teaching and workshop experiences abroad include Chile, Israel, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, India, and the UAE.

Janielle is focused on striving for excellence as well as inspiring creative expression in her students in every aspect of music practice, performance and teaching.
